Packers WR Davante Adams unlikely to play vs. Chiefs, expected back vs. Chargers

The Green Bay Packers may only have to wait one more week before they return Pro Bowl receiver Davante Adams.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Adams isn’t expected to play on Sunday night against the Kansas City Chiefs but is “likely to return” the following Sunday when the Packers travel to Los Angeles to play the Chargers.

Adams, who has missed the last three games with a turf toe injury, is listed as doubtful for Sunday night.

While available during stretching periods, he wasn’t able to participate in any team activities during practice this week as the Packers continue working him through his recovery timeline.

Despite making progress, Adams admitted this week he wasn’t fully healed yet.

“I’m trying every day to get back to where I was. I’m just not quite there yet, but I feel two million times better than what I did,” Adams said on Thursday.

The Packers listed Adams as doubtful for Sunday night after ruling him out two days before each of the last three games. By next week, he could return to practice for the first time since suffering the injury on Sept. 26 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Packers play the Chargers in Los Angeles next Sunday before returning home to play the Carolina Panthers before the team’s Week 10 bye.

In four games this season, Adams has 25 catches for 378 yards.
