Packers WR Davante Adams to miss third consecutive game Sunday vs. Raiders

The Green Bay Packers won’t have two-time Pro Bowl receiver Davante Adams for the third consecutive game on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders.

Coach Matt LaFleur confirmed Adams, who is dealing with a turf toe injury, would be ruled out for Week 7.

“Davante will be out,” LaFleur said Friday.

Injured against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 26, Adams has already missed games against the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions. He wasn’t available to practice on Thursday and Friday and won’t play again Sunday.

Over the Packers’ first four games, Adams caught 25 passes for 378 yards. He hauled in 10 passes for a career-high 180 yards before injuring his toe against the Eagles.

Adams said he felt a “million times better” on Thursday but has maintained throughout the process that he wouldn’t rush back and risk re-injury.

Two others at the top of the receiver depth chart are also dealing with injuries.

LaFleur wasn’t ready to rule out Geronimo Allison or Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who were both injured against the Lions. Neither has practiced this week. Allison is still in the league’s concussion protocol, while Valdes-Scantling is recovering from ankle and knee injuries.

“We’ve got 48 hours, so we have time to see if they can come around,” LaFleur said.

LaFleur explained what needs to happen over the next two days for Allison and Valdes-Scantling to play Sunday.

“One has to get through the protocol, the other one has to make progress where he can function,” LaFleur said. “You never want to put a guy out there and ask him to do something his body isn’t capable of doing. First and foremost, he has to be able to protect himself. And then he’s got to be able to play at the level we expect him to play at.”

If they can’t go, Jake Kumerow, Allen Lazard, Darrius Shepherd and Ryan Grant would be the only four receivers available for LaFleur and quarterback Aaron Rodgers on Sunday.
