Packers WR Davante Adams just missed out on PFF’s 50 best players list

Three members of the Green Bay Packers made Pro Football Focus’ 50 best players list entering the 2019 season, and one just missed the cut.

Receiver Davante Adams was included among the top 10 players that missed out on the top 50.

That could change by the end of this year.

“Odds are the 26-year-old phenom continues his upward trend and blows the doors of the NFL again in 2019. And if he does, he won’t be on the outside looking in at the PFF50 next year,” PFF’s analysis team wrote.

Few pass-catchers have been more productive over the last three years, and few figure to be as productive in the near future.

Last season, Adams caught a career-high 111 passes for 1,386 yards and 13 touchdowns. Since 2016, Adams ranks 10th in the NFL in receptions (260) and receiving yards (3,268) and second in receiving touchdowns (35).

Now 26, Adams is entering the 2019 season as the Packers’ unquestioned No. 1 target in the passing game, and it’s possible his production will increase in Matt LaFleur’s new offense.

Aaron Rodgers isn’t going to stop providing him opportunities.

“I’d like to throw to Davante more, he’s that open,” Rodgers said earlier this month. “We gotta keep finding ways of getting him the ball. There’s nothing wrong with having a go-to guy who is that dynamic and finding ways of getting him the ball.”

Another big season from the two-time Pro Bowler should ensure Adams is properly ranked among the NFL’s 50 best players by this time next year.
