Packers WR Davante Adams (COVID-19) won’t play vs. Cardinals

The Green Bay Packers won’t have All-Pro receiver Davante Adams on Thursday night against the Arizona Cardinals.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Adams isn’t going to clear COVID-19 protocols by Thursday night and is officially out.

The Packers placed Adams on the COVID-19 reserve list on Monday. As a vaccinated player, he needed to be asymptomatic and have two negative tests 24 hours apart to clear protocols and play against the Cardinals. He did not travel with the team to Arizona on Wednesday afternoon.

Adams caught 52 passes for 744 yards and three touchdowns during the Packers’ first seven games of the 2021 season. He ranks second in the NFL in catches and third in receiving yards.

The Packers also won’t have receiver Allen Lazard, who was deemed a close contact as an unvaccinated player and must quarantine for at least five days. He is also on the COVID-19 reserve list.

It’s also unclear if the Packers will get back Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who remains on injured reserve. If he isn’t activated, the Packers will be without their top three receivers against the Cardinals.

Adams, Lazard and Valdes-Scantling account for 110 targets, 73 catches, 1,004 yards and six touchdowns this season.
