Packers WR Allen Lazard pokes fun at Aaron Rodgers’ 2005 combine photo

Every year during the NFL Scouting Combine, the Green Bay Packers’ social media team likes to go back into the archives and pull out old photos of current players participating at the combine. It’s a fun way to have the past meet the present, and a reminder that the NFL stars of tomorrow are often found at the combine in Indianapolis.

The exercise also opens up ideal teasing opportunities.

Packers receiver Allen Lazard took full advantage of the opportunity when the team posted a photo of quarterback Aaron Rodgers speaking to the assembled media during the 2005 combine.

Lily Zhao of WFRV-TV in Green Bay documented the burn:

Lloyd Christmas is, of course, Jim Carrey’s iconic character in the 1994 cult classic, “Dumb and Dumber.”

While it’s not a perfect match, the haircuts are – sorry to say, Aaron – pretty darn close. Back then, the soon-to-be Packers quarterback only needed a chipped front tooth to really complete the look.

Now, if Lazard doesn’t see a single pass from Rodgers in 2020, you’ll know why.

UPDATE: Rodgers returned the favor in kind! On Thursday, Lazard posted a picture of himself running the 40-yard dash at the combine in 2018. Here’s Rodgers’ response:

Lazard, who was knocked during the pre-draft process and ended up undrafted in part due to his lack of straight-line speed, actually ran the 40-yard dash in 4.55 seconds in 2018.
