Packers would host Vikings if playoffs started today

If the NFL playoff started today (which they don’t because we still have seven more games to play), the Vikings would travel to play the Packers in the wild card round of the playoffs.

What fun that would be for both fan bases and surely no families would get in any fights that they would later regret.

Here’s what the NFC playoff picture looks like as of now:

First-round bye

  1. 49ers, 8-0
  2. Saints, 7-1

Wild card round

6. Vikings, 6-3 at 3. Packers 7-2
5. Seahawks, 7-2 at 4. Cowboys 4-3

So you’re saying there’s a chance . . .

Rams, 5-3
Panthers, 5-3
Eagles, 5-4
Lions, 3-4-1

The Vikings have a pretty important game against the Cowboys in Week 10 on the road. They will probably go into the game as an underdog, but those are the types of games the Vikings need to win if they want anyone to take them seriously.

Luckily for the Vikings, the Packers fell to the Chargers in Week 9, so their loss to the Chiefs doesn’t hurt quite as bad.

The Vikings find themselves a game back from the Packers, but their 1-2 record in the NFC North (with a loss to the Packers) doesn’t hurt. Those two teams will meet up again in Week 16 at U.S. Bank Stadium.
