Packers won’t have rookie C Josh Myers vs. Bengals due to finger injury

Green Bay Packers center Josh Myers will miss the first game of his NFL career on Sunday.

Coach Matt LaFleur said a lingering finger injury will keep Myers out of Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

“He has a finger issue he’s been playing through. The doctors won’t let him do it. He’ll be out this week, but I don’t think it’s going to be anything long term,” LaFleur said.

Myers, the Packers’ second-round pick, missed all three practices this week. LaFleur said the team is hopeful he’ll be able to return next week against the Chicago Bears.

The rookie has been on the injury report since Week 2 with a finger injury.

LaFleur did not say who would replace Myers at center. Lucas Patrick has experience at the position. So does Elgton Jenkins, who returned to practice this week after an ankle injury. The Packers also have second-year center Jake Hanson on the roster.

The Packers will release a full injury report with designations later on Friday. Myers and cornerback Jaire Alexander will be out, while Jenkins is expected to be questionable.
