Packers will host Washington OT Kaleb McGary on pre-draft visit

The Green Bay Packers are one of 14 teams that will host Washington offensive tackle Kaleb McGary on an official pre-draft visit, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

McGary (6-7, 317) started 47 games at right tackle for Washington over the last four seasons. He was a two-time first-team All-Pac-12 offensive tackle and won the Morris Trophy for being the conference’s top offensive lineman during the 2018 season.

Although some believe McGary will need to play guard at the next level due to shorter-than-desired arms, he may have the kind of upper-tier athleticism and natural size to survive on the edges in the NFL.

Lance Zierlein of NFL.com believes McGary could be an early starter in the NFL if moved to guard, although McGary also ranks as Zierlein’s fourth-best offensive tackle prospect in the class.

The draft stock on McGary varies wildly from analyst to analyst. Some believe he’s in the mix for the first round, while others see him a mid-round developmental prospect.

Interest in meetings from so many teams around the NFL may stem from a heart arrhythmia issue McGary has dealt with for several years.

The Packers will likely target a future replacement for starting right tackle Bryan Bulaga at some point in the 2019 draft. McGary appears to be one legitimate option.
