Packers waive Michael Roberts after claiming him from Lions

It’s been a rough few days for former Detroit Lions tight end Michael Roberts. He’s now been dumped by his third NFL team in a week.

The Lions initially traded Roberts to the New England Patriots for a conditional future draft pick. However, Roberts failed his physical with the Patriots and reverted back to the Lions.

Detroit had seen enough of its 2017 fourth-round pick to know they didn’t want him back, so the Lions waived Roberts once the trade was officially negated.

Green Bay claimed Roberts and the remaining two years on his contract via the waiver wire on Monday. Unfortunately for Roberts, he also failed his physical with the Packers once he reported to the team. The Packers subsequently waived him.

Roberts is now a free agent and has no further ties to the Lions.
