Packers trade No. 45 pick to Detroit Lions, acquire fifth-round pick

The Green Bay Packers traded down in the second round of the 2023 draft, sending the No. 45 overall pick to the Detroit Lions for the No. 48 overall pick and No. 159 overall pick. The Lions selected Alabama safety Brian Branch at No. 45.

The Packers recouped a fifth-round pick and now have eight total picks on Day 3. In the Aaron Rodgers trade, general manager Brian Gutekunst swapped a fifth-round pick (No. 170) for a sixth-round pick (No. 207).

The Packers will have picks No. 149 and No. 159 in the fifth round, plus a fourth-rounder, sixth-rounder and four seventh-rounders.

Three picks earlier, the Packers selected Oregon State tight end Luke Musgrave at No. 45.
