The Green Bay Packers will be one of the showcase teams for the NFL’s 100th anniversary season.
The Packers are currently scheduled to play in three of the league’s “NFL100 Game of Week” matchups.
Each week in 2019, the NFL has designated one game to commemorate the league’s 100th season, picking matchups that represent “a momentous game played, a fierce rivalry that spans decades, a matchup of original teams and/or a game in which history was made.”
The Packers will be featured in the “NFL100 Game of the Week” during weeks 1, 7 and 8.
The Packers’ trip to Chicago to play the rival Bears will kick off the NFL’s 100th season in prime time. In October, the Packers will host the Oakland Raiders, whom Green Bay beat in Super Bowl II, and then a week later travel to Kansas City to play the Chiefs, whom the Packers defeated in Super Bowl I.
It’s unknown how the league will celebrate these individually selected matchups each week.
The only week without a “NFL100 Game of the Week” matchup currently scheduled is Week 17. It will be determined at a later date. The Packers play the Detroit Lions at Ford Field in Week 17.
