The Green Bay Packers are going virtual for their yearly shareholders meeting.
The team announced Thursday that the Annual Meeting of Shareholders will be held via exclusive webcast at 11:00 a.m. CT on Thursday, July 23. Traditionally held at Lambeau Field, the Packers Board of Directors determined the safest route was the virtual one while the world deals with the coronavirus pandemic.
The Packers have more than 360,000 shareholders owning over 5 million total shares.
Packers CEO and team president Mark Murphy said the decision was not made “lightly,” but the team was confident they could still deliver “all the reports” of a traditional shareholders meeting. Also, recent success holding the meeting online helped drive the decision.
“As you may know, thousands of you have viewed the meeting online the past five years. This year’s meeting will expand on that capability,” Murphy wrote.
Murphy, coach Matt LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst should participate.

The meeting is generally considered the kickoff event of the Packers’ new season, with celebrations for shareholders ahead of the start of training camp. The Packers are expected to start training camp on July 28, although the date hasn’t been made official.
