Packers to celebrate 100th birthday with grass seed giveaway

Want your lawn to look like Lambeau Field? Don’t miss the Green Bay Packers’ next birthday party.

The Packers announced plans for their 100th birthday celebration on Monday, and a special giveaway will serve as one of the main attractions.

Not only will the team hand out cupcakes and prizes and show a documentary highlighting the franchise’s history, but the Packers will give away packets of the same grass seed that’s used to grow the playing surface at Lambeau Field.

“The seed packets allow fans to take home a piece of Lambeau Field and Packers history and help the team sow the seeds for the next 100 seasons,” the team wrote in a press release.

The celebration is planned for Sunday, Aug. 11. It will be held in Lambeau Field’s atrium from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m and is free for all visitors.

However, only the first 5,000 fans will receive a free grass seed packet. And there’s more: One in every 50 of the seed packets will be signed by one of Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams, Kenny Clark, Jaire Alexander, Blake Martinez, Matt LaFleur, Brian Gutekunst or Mark Murphy.
