Packers TE Jimmy Graham injures finger during Sunday’s practice

Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur did not have an update on the status of veteran tight end Jimmy Graham, who left Sunday’s practice after suffering an unspecified finger injury.

“Yeah, he hurt his finger,” LaFleur said after the practice. “I don’t know (the exact injury). I just know he missed the rest of practice.”

Graham injured his finger during a live team drill and immediately ran off the field and to the Hutson Center for treatment.

Graham, who dealt with a broken thumb for much of the last two months of last season, didn’t return and missed the rest of the practice. It’s an injury to monitor as the Packers inch closer and closer to Sept. 5 and a trip to Chicago to open the season against the Bears.

The Packers are banking on big things from Graham, who is entering the second year of a three-year, $30 million deal he signed before the 2018 season. He caught 55 passes for 636 yards and only two touchdowns last season.

The Packers practice again Monday afternoon, which should provide some level of clarity on Graham’s status. The team plays the Oakland Raiders in Winnipeg on Thursday night.
