Packers take big lead into halftime in Houston

The bounce-back game for the Green Bay Packers is well underway in Houston.

The Packers took a big lead into the half-time locker room on Sunday, using three touchdown passes from Aaron Rodgers, a big half from receiver Davante Adams and a mostly dominant effort from Mike Pettine’s defense to grab a commanding 21-0 advantage over the Texans.

Rodgers threw touchdown passes to Adams, Jace Sternberger and Malik Taylor in the first half. He completed 16 of 21 passes for 197 yards and has a passer rating of 144.2.

Adams caught eight passes for 114 yards, scored the opening touchdown and converted four third downs.

The Packers defense delivered two sacks, forced three punts and didn’t allow a point.

The Packers have 15 first downs and are averaging 7.2 yards per play. They are 4-for-6 on third down and have scored touchdowns on all three red-zone trips.

Adams has catches of 28 and 36 yards. Running back Jamaal Williams produced 83 total yards, and tight end Robert Tonyan caught a 31-yard pass.

Sternberger and Taylor both scored their first regular season NFL touchdown.

Za’Darius Smith and Krys Barnes both have a sack, while Preston Smith has been active delivering pressure.
