Packers strike first on free play TD from Aaron Rodgers to Marquez Valdes-Scantling

The master of the free play strikes again.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers drew the Denver Broncos offsides and then lofted a perfect touchdown pass to Marquez Valdes-Scantling, giving the Packers an early 7-0 lead on Sunday at Lambeau Field.

The hard count brought at least two Broncos defenders into the neutral zone. Knowing he had a free play, Rodgers launched the deep ball to Valdes-Scantling, who had the coverage beat down the middle of the field.

The play covered 40 yards. It finished off a five-play, 75-yard scoring drive to open the game.

Rodgers completed all three of his passes for 67 yards, including a pair of completions to Valdes-Scantling.
