Packers start training camp practices with no major injuries on roster

Kicker Mason Crosby, cornerback Josh Jackson, safety Darnell Savage and running back Dexter Williams didn’t participate in the first practice of trianing camp on Thursday morning, but Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur indicted none of the four was dealing with a serious issue.

Crosby has a calf injury and Jackson is dealing with a foot issue, while Savage is recovering from a dental operation and Williams was out with an illness.

Sam Ficken handled field goal duties and made 4-of-6 attempts during a kicking period. Without Jackson and Savage, the Packers started team drills with Jaire Alexander, Kevin King and Tramon Williams at cornerback and Adrian Amos and Raven Greene at safety.

Savage (wisdom tooth extraction) is expected to return to practice soon. There is no timetable for Crosby and Jackson, but both were present for practice Thursday, indicting they could also return soon.

The Packers practiced for two hours and 11 minutes on Thursday morning at Ray Nitschke Field. They’ll be back on the field for a 10:15 a.m. practice on Friday morning.
