Packers sitting 33 players vs. Raiders amidst field condition concerns

Unsafe playing conditions at IG Field in Winnipeg led the Green Bay Packers to sit 33 players, including quarterback Aaron Rodgers, for Thursday night’s preseason game against the Oakland Raiders.

Any player of consequence isn’t playing for the Packers.

The list of players sitting for the Packers: Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams, Kevin King, Jaire Alexander, Josh Jones, Darnell Savage, Ka’dar Hollman, Jamaal Williams, Adrian Amos, Aaron Jones, Ibraheim Campbell, Tramon Williams, Oren Burks, Danny Vitale, Kabion Ento, Blake Martinez, Za’Darius Smith, Greg Roberts, Corey Linsley, Lane Taylor, David Bakhtiari, Elgton Jenkins, Bryan Bulaga, Billy Turner, Jimmy Graham, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Jace Sternberger, Marcedes Lewis, Preston Smith, Reggie Gilbert, Dean Lowry, Kenny Clark and Fadol Brown.

Concerns over the playing field popped up during pre-game warmups. Patched areas in both end zones clearly aren’t safe or playable. Although the game is still being played, coach Matt LaFleur and the Packers aren’t comfortable playing starters or key players.

It is now unlikely that Rodgers will participate during the preseason. The Packers finish the exhibition schedule next Thursday night with a visit from the Kansas City Chiefs.
