Packers simulating crowd noise at Arrowhead Stadium during practice

Arrowhead Stadium owns the world record for the loudest outdoor stadium, set in 2014 on Monday Night Football against the New England Patriots. Many teams have tried to prepare for the fabled crowd noise that Kansas City Chiefs fans produce in the past but none of it comes close to the real thing.

The Patriots blasted loud music ahead of the AFC championship game in 2018. The Raiders played the Tomahawk Chop and crowd noise during the practices. When you step onto that field in primetime, there’s just nothing that can simulate the defeaning crowd noise and the ground shaking from the roars of Chiefs fans.

For the Packers, they practiced with artificial crowd noise and the tomahawk chop playing in the background. Fox 11 News reporter John Doran captured some video of the noise that they Packers players dealt with at practice. Take a look:

The last time Green Bay came to Arrowhead Stadium was December of the 2011 season. Aaron Rodgers, Bryan Bulaga and Tramon Williams are the only players still around from that team that know what it’s like. Kansas City caught the Packers by surprise and beat them, stifling a perfect season.

Rodgers and the rest of the Green Bay offense are hoping they’ll be able to silence the Chiefs’ crowd, especially with Chiefs starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes sidelined with an injury. It doesn’t leave a whole lot for Chiefs fans to cheer for.

Hopefully, the defense will be up to the task of slowing down the Packers. It’ll be extra important for the Chiefs Kingdom to bring their A-game from the crowd noise perspective. It’s easy to understand that the Chiefs will need all of the help they can get in this matchup.
