Packers sign 2016 third-round pick Bronson Kaufusi to futures deal

The Green Bay Packers added a 2016 third-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens to the offseason roster with a futures deal.

The team signed tight end Bronson Kaufusi, who came into the NFL as a defensive lineman, to a reserve/future contract.

The 70th overall pick in 2016, Kaufusi has played in nine NFL games, tallying eight tackles and a half sack. He started making the transition from the defensive line to tight end during training camp with the New York Jets this summer.

Kaufusi’s career on defense never took off after breaking his ankle and missing his rookie season. He played in three games with the Ravens in 2017 and later played in six games with the Jets between the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

Kaufusi is 29. He tallied 26.5 sacks during his four-year career at BYU.

The Packers list Kaufusi at 6-6 and 270 pounds. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.87 seconds and finished the three-cone drill in 7.03 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine.

The Packers previously signed wide receiver Chris Blair, safety Innis Gaines and linebacker Ray Wilborn to futures deals last week.
