Packers S Raven Greene has jokes about his ‘Madden NFL 20’ rating

The ratings department at EA Sports wasn’t very kind to Raven Greene, but at least the Green Bay Packers safety could joke about his “Madden NFL 20” rating on Monday.

Despite making the 53-man roster as an undrafted rookie last season, Greene was given one of the worst overall ratings in the upcoming video game. He is a 54 overall, the fourth-worst rating on the Packers roster and the worst overall rating for a free safety in the game.

Greene had jokes about two of his individual ratings. He was given only 45 awareness (only 18 players in the game have a worse awareness rating) and 56 strength, despite him bulking up this offseason.

“I better run out onto the field with my helmet on backwards,” Greene joked. “I need help opening ketchup packets.”

As any “Madden” player knows, awareness is a key factor in determining a player’s overall rating. It’s possible the ratings department at EA Sports used Greene’s ugly-looking pass interference penalty last season in Seattle as the basis for his 45 awareness rating.

Then again, Greene could counter with this instinctive play he made against the Dolphins in which he nearly intercepted Brock Osweiler in the red zone.

NFL Game Pass

Packers coach Matt LaFleur called Greene a “smart football player” during the offseason workout program, where the second-year safety played snaps at defensive back and dime linebacker. That versatility will provide a chance for Greene to make the roster for a second-straight year.

At the very least, “Madden NFL 20” could have given Greene a higher rating in “ball carrier vision.” Did EA Sports miss Greene’s fake punt last season?
