Packers S Raven Greene carted off with ankle injury vs. Vikings

The Green Bay Packers will be without safety Raven Greene for the rest of the game Sunday and likely much longer.

Greene, a second-year player who has operated as the defense’s dime linebacker, needed a cart to leave Lambeau Field after suffering an ankle injury in the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Greene took an awkward fall away from the ball at the end of a run play. He stayed down but eventually limped his way onto the cart and exited the field.

The Packers replaced Greene with Will Redmond, who played deep safety while Adrian Amos moved up to play linebacker in the dime look.

Greene suffered an ankle injury in November of last year and missed the rest of the season. He returned during the offseason and won an important job for Mike Pettine as the defense’s third safety and go-to dime linebacker.

Greene’s injury impacts the Packers’ increasingly thin depth at both safety and inside linebacker.
