Packers rule out Josh Myers, list 3 defensive starters as questionable vs. Washington

The Green Bay Packers ruled out two offensive linemen and listed three defensive starters as questionable for Sunday vs. the Washington Football Team.

Starting center Josh Myers (knee) and backup tackle Dennis Kelly (back) are both out after missing the entire week of practice, while cornerback Kevin King (shoulder), safety Darnell Savage (concussion) and outside linebacker Preston Smith (oblique) are all questionable.

Myers is expected to be replaced by Lucas Patrick, who has played extensively at center the last two weeks.

King practiced all week in a limited capacity, Savage is still working through the concussion protocol but practiced both Thursday and Friday, and Smith returned to practice in a limited capacity on Friday after missing Wednesday and Thursday.

If King can’t go, the Packers would lean more on veteran Rasul Douglas at cornerback opposite rookie Eric Stokes. Savage would likely be replaced by Henry Black alongside Adrian Amos at safety, while a mix of Jonathan Garvin, LaDarius Hamilton and possibly even Whitney Mercilus could take Smith’s snaps at edge rusher if he can’t go.

LaFleur said Smith “came a long way” this week but the Packers will “see how he feels” on Sunday. The veteran edge rusher has started 102 consecutive games to start his NFL career.

Receiver Equanimeous St. Brown (shoulder) does not have an injury designation and will be available for Sunday.

Washington ruled out right tackle Sam Cosmi, right guard Brandon Scherff, receiver Curtis Samuel and receiver Cam Sims. Running back Antonio Gibson, cornerback William Jackson and defensive end Shaka Toney are questionable.
