Packers rookie TE Davis Koppenhaver placed on reserve/retired list

Rookie tight end Davis Koppenhaver was placed on the reserved/retired list by the Green Bay Packers on Thursday.

The Packers originally signed Koppenhaver, an undrafted free agent from Duke, on May 3. He was one of seven undrafted free agents to receive a $7,000 signing bonus.

Koppenhaver caught 49 passes for 431 yards and 12 touchdowns over 41 games at Duke. He hauled in a career-high seven scores during his final collegiate season.

Koppenhaver has a master’s degree from Duke in management studies. According to Michael Cohen of The Athletic, Koppenhaver is leaving the team to pursue a career away from football.

Koppenhaver’s departure leaves the Packers with five tight ends on the roster: Jimmy Graham, Marcedes Lewis, Robert Tonyan, Evan Baylis and rookie Jace Sternberger.
