Green Bay Packers rookie center Josh Myers recently had surgery on his injured knee, but the team remains hopeful that he will return at some point this season.
Myers originally hurt his knee during the first series of the Packers’ Oct. 17 win over the Chicago Bears. He was placed on injured reserve on Oct. 23.
“He just had surgery a couple of days ago,” offensive line coach Adam Stenavich confirmed on Wednesday.
Asked if Myers could return this season, Stenavich expressed optimism.
“I hope so, yeah, I really do. It sounds like there is a chance, so that would be great,” Stenavich said.
Myers, the team’s second-round pick, started five of the first six games at center for the Packers. He played 261 offensive snaps and didn’t have a penalty.
Stenavich said Myers is rehabbing the knee while still participating in meetings.
Without Myers, the Packers will continue to start Lucas Patrick at center. He’s made four starts this season, including three at center. Stenavich said he’s been “really impressed” with the way Patrick has played the position this season.
