Packers return pair of OTs, including Rick Wagner, for Friday practice

The Green Bay Packers are getting healthy at offensive tackle.

According to Jim Owczarski of PackersNews.com, offensive tackles Rick Wagner and Yosh Nijman both returned to practice on Friday morning.

Wagner, a leading candidate to start at right tackle, hasn’t practiced since injuring his arm during a practice at Lambeau Field on Aug. 20. He is competing with Billy Turner to be the starting right tackle, even after missing over a week of action.

Nijman, an undrafted free agent entering his second season in Green Bay, is coming off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. He’s finally starting training camp after finishing last season on injured reserve.

GM Brian Gutekunst said he’s excited to see Nijman compete among the offensive tackles.

“I’m looking forward to seeing Yosh in his second year with our group and seeing where he can go, and grow. I’m confident in that group,” Gutekunst said.

Nijman could make the 53-man roster as a backup at offensive tackle, potentially even as the swing tackle.

Wagner, who has 87 career starts in the NFL, will have about two weeks to win the job at right tackle.
