Packers restructure strength and conditioning staff, promote Chris Gizzi

The Green Bay Packers finished up their first coaching staff under Matt LaFleur by restructuring the strength and conditioning staff.

Chris Gizzi, Mark Lovat, Thaddeus Jackson and Grant Thorne were all retained, but Gizzi – a former Packers linebacker – was promoted to coordinator, replacing Lovat, who will remain as an assistant.

The team announced the moves Monday, finalizing the coaching staff:

Gizzi, 43, has been an assistant under Lovat since 2013. He played in Green Bay in 2000 and 2001. This will be his first opportunity to coordinate a staff.

Lovat, who has served 21 years on Green Bay’s strength and conditioning staff, returns as an assistant. He spent nine years leading the staff as coordinator. He’ll be joined under Gizzi by Jackson and Thorne, two long-serving assistants under Lovat.

The Packers will unveil their full coaching staff under LaFleur later Monday morning.
