Packers release S Will Redmond from injured reserve

The Green Bay Packers released safety Will Redmond from injured reserve on Monday.

Redmond, 27, was placed on injured reserve on Aug. 24 because of a toe injury, ending his season in Green Bay. He was injured during the Packers’ preseason game against the New York Jets on Aug. 21.

Now released from injured reserve, Redmond has a chance to sign with another team and play during the 2021 season.

Redmond played in 31 games with the Packers over three seasons. He produced 65 tackles, two pass breakups and one tackle for loss over 1,095 total snaps on defense and special teams.

A college cornerback, Redmond converted to safety in Green Bay. He developed into a key member of the special teams while with the Packers, playing over 50 percent of the special teams snaps in both 2019 and 2020.

Redmond was originally drafted in the third round by the San Francisco 49ers in 2016.
