Packers reach injury settlement with OLB Kendall Donnerson

The Green Bay Packers are removing second-year outside linebacker Kendall Donnerson from injured reserve with an injury settlement, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

The Packers originally waived Donnerson with an injury designation on Aug. 8, roughly two weeks after he injured his hamstring early on during training camp. He cleared waivers and reverted to the Packers’ injured reserve list.

An injury settlement requires the Packers to pay out compensation based on the timeline of Donnerson’s recovery from the hamstring injury. In return, Donnerson is released from the team’s injured reserve list and free to sign with another team. It also allows Donnerson to return to the Packers at some point during the 2019 season instead of spending the entire year on injured reserve.

Donnerson was the 248th overall pick in the 2018 draft. The Packers promoted him from the practice squad to the active roster on Dec. 4 last year, but he didn’t appear in a regular-season game.

Offensive tackle Jason Spriggs remains on the Packers’ injured reserve list.
