The new offense of Matt LaFleur has Green Bay Packers running backs Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams on pace for a huge statistical season.
Through seven games, Jones and Williams have combined for 904 yards from scrimmage and 12 total touchdowns, putting the pair on pace to gain over 2,000 total yards and score 27 touchdowns.
Last season, the pair totaled 1,608 yards and 12 touchdowns.
LaFleur has committed to getting the ball to his running backs, both as runners and in the passing game.
Jones and Williams have 144 rushing attempts and 43 catches. At that pace, they’ll run 329 times and catch 98 passes. Last season, they combined for 254 rushes and 53 catches.
Jones has eight rushing touchdowns and one receiving score. While Williams doesn’t have a rushing score, he’s tied for the team lead with three receiving touchdowns.
The pair has been especially helpful in making up for the absence of receiver Davante Adams. Over the last three games, Jones and Williams have 313 rushing yards, 179 receiving yards and seven total touchdowns.
During a win in Dallas, Jones produced 182 total yards and four scores. A week later on Monday night, Williams gained 136 total yards and scored once. They each caught a touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers during Sunday’s win over the Oakland Raiders.
The touchdown production from the two running backs may not last, but there’s no reason to believe LaFleur won’t keep feeding Jones and Williams in the offense. They’ve proven capable of making a difference on the ground and through the air.
