Packers RB Aaron Jones was fined $10k for waving goodbye to a defender

Aaron Jones had a career day against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5, rushing for four touchdowns on the road in a win, which tied a Packers franchise record. Jones also set the scene for one of the coolest photos of the 2019 NFL season, when he waved goodbye to Dallas’ Byron Jones as he raced to the endzone.

No flags were thrown over the gesture, but Jones said on The Pat McAfee Show that a Packers coach warned him not to wave at a defender again, as he could be punished – and he eventually was. According to ESPN,  the NFL hit Jones with a $10,527 fine for what the league deemed “taunting/unsportsmanlike conduct.”

Jones isn’t happy about losing the money (though he plans to appeal), but he’s looking forward to hanging the photo in his home.

Via ESPN:

“I can’t say it was worth it, but the picture is a dope picture. I can’t argue with that. I’m going to have that blown up one day in my house. I definitely got a nice picture out of it, but it hurts my pocket a little bit. I want that money.”
