Packers RB Aaron Jones exits with chest injury after fumble

Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones is questionable to return to the NFC Championship Game after suffering a chest injury in the third quarter.

Jones was injured after catching a short pass on the Packers’ first drive of the second half. He took a hit from safety Jordan Whitehead and fumbled, leading to a quick Buccaneers touchdown.

He left the field under his own power and was evaluated in the blue medical tent.

Jones has six carries for 27 yards and four catches for seven yards in the contest.

With Jones on the sideline for the next series, the Packers went with backup Jamaal Williams. If Jones can’t go the rest of the way, Williams and rookie A.J. Dillon will have to do the heavy lifting at running back.

The Packers are trailing, suggesting a lot of passing is upcoming for the offense in the second half.

A fifth-round pick in 2017, Jones is an unrestricted free agent following the 2020 season.
