Packers QB Jordan Love gets good news on injured throwing shoulder

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love avoided a significant injury to his throwing shoulder.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, testing on Love’s shoulder on Sunday morning “came back clean” and he isn’t expected to miss time.

Love “dinged” his shoulder on a strip-sack late in the second quarter of his NFL debut against the Houston Texans on Saturday night at Lambeau Field. The Packers ditched plans to play him into the second half and ended his night at halftime.

Love said he was feeling fine following the game.

His shoulder and hand got hit as he was trying to release the ball on a throw, and Love said the injury felt something like a strain in the shoulder.

The Packers played third-string quarterback Kurt Benkert in the second half. Aaron Rodgers did not play. The team only has three quarterbacks on the roster, but if Love isn’t expected to miss time, an addition shouldn’t be required.

Love and the Packers have a busy week ahead. The New York Jets are coming to Green Bay for joint practices on Wednesday and Thursday before a preseason game between the two teams on Saturday at Lambeau Field.
