Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is PFF’s pick for Most Valuable Player

In what will likely be a preview of the Associated Press vote, Pro Football Focus named Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers as the site’s pick for Most Valuable Player in 2020.

Rodgers was the selection over Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, the two honorable mentions.

During a historic season, Rodgers completed an NFL-best 70.7 percent of his passes, tossed a career-high 48 touchdown passes and finished with the second-best passer rating of all-time (121.5).

Rodgers was the highest-graded overall player at PFF and also the leader in PFF’s new wins above replacement statistic.

The AP will vote on the official NFL MVP award. Rodgers is expected to win his third MVP when the award is announced the Saturday before the Super Bowl.

The Packers were well-represented in PFF’s final awards. Left tackle David Bakhtiari was named the Pass Blocker of the Year. Davante Adams was an honorable mention for Offensive Player of the Year and Receiver of the Year. Bakhtiari and Corey Linsley were honorable mentions for Offensive Lineman of the Year. Jaire Alexander was an honorable mention for Best Coverage Defender and Breakout Player of the Year. The Packers were an honorable mention for the Offensive Line of the Year.

Entering the NFC Championship Game, the Packers are the highest-rated team in the NFL overall and on offense at PFF.

Rodgers is the highest-graded player remaining in the playoff field, while Alexander is the highest-graded defensive player remaining among the Packers, Buccaneers, Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills.
