Packers put in request for back-to-back road games early in 2020 season

The Green Bay Packers are hoping to avoid a pair of major events in the state of Wisconsin with a two-game road trip early in the 2020 season.

According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN, Packers team president Mark Murphy put in a pair of requests with the NFL and the league’s schedule-makers for games to be played away from Green Bay late in September and early October of next season.

The Packers are attempting to avoid conflicts with two big local events by playing away from home in back-to-back weeks.

The 2020 Ryder Cup will be played at Whistling Straits, located an hour south of Green Bay, between Friday, Sept. 25 and Sunday, Sept. 27, while Lambeau Field will host a college football game between the Wisconsin Badgers and Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday, Oct. 3.

The Packers play the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers on the road during the 2020 season.

The Packers didn’t play back-to-back road games until Week 8 and 9 during the 2019 season.
