Packers potentially interested in Cordarrelle Patterson?

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network mentioned the Green Bay Packers as one of the teams potentially interested in New England Patriots running back/receiver/returner Cordarrelle Patterson, a former top pick of the Minnesota Vikings.

Over 15 games with the Patriots last season, Patterson rushed 42 times for 228 yards and a touchdown and caught 21 passes for 247 yards and three more scores. He also returned 23 kickoffs for 663 yards and one touchdown.

Overall, Patterson produced six plays from scrimmage over 20 yards and two kickoffs over 40 yards.

He had one of his most productive games of the season against the Packers in November, carrying 11 times for 61 yards and a touchdown.

The Packers could see Patterson as a dangerous dual-threat running back capable of adding depth at running back, big-play ability at receiver and reliability returning kickoffs.

Patterson might also be an ideal fit in Matt LaFleur’s offense, given his speed and after-the-catch ability, especially on short passes. His maturation at running back could make for a nice complement to what the Packers already have in Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams.

Pelissero also mentioned the Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens as potential landing spots for Patterson, who turns 28 later this week.

Since entering the NFL as the 23rd overall pick in 2013, Patterson has made two Pro Bowls and four All-Pro teams. He played four seasons in Minnesota, one in Oakland and one in New England.
