Packers placing UDFA rookie Greg Roberts on PUP list to start training camp

The Green Bay Packers won’t have one of their undrafted rookies to begin training camp.

According to Ryan Wood of PackersNews.com, the Packers are placing rookie outside linebacker Greg Roberts on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list to start camp.

Roberts was the most coveted player in the Packers’ undrafted free agent class in 2019. The former Baylor standout earned a $7,000 signing bonus and $65,000 of his base salary guaranteed, a sure sign the Packers believed Roberts to be the most likely undrafted rookie to make the roster.

However, Roberts missed the entire offseason workout program with an undisclosed injury and will now miss the start of camp.

As a senior in 2018, Roberts (6-5, 258) played in 12 games and delivered eight tackles for losses and three sacks. He was named an honorable mention All-Big 12 selection.

The Packers rookies reported to camp on Monday. First-round pick Darnell Savage was placed on the non-football illness list due to recent wisdom teeth extraction. The rest of the Packers veteran report for camp on Wednesday.
