Packers place LG Lane Taylor on injured reserve

Rookie Elgton Jenkins will start at left guard Sunday against the Denver Broncos and will continue to start at the position for the foreseeable future.

The Green Bay Packers placed starting left guard Lane Taylor on injured reserve with a biceps injury on Saturday, opening the door for Jenkins to be the new full-time starter.

Taylor, who suffered the injury on Thursday and sat out Friday’s practice, will be eligible to return from injured reserve in eight weeks, if possible. It’s also possible Taylor’s injury is season-ending.

The Packers took Jenkins with the 44th overall pick in the 2019 draft. He played 18 snaps in a rotation with Taylor during the Packers’ win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2.

Taylor, 29, has started all but three games for the Packers over the last four seasons.

The Packers replaced Taylor on the roster with Adam Pankey, who was signed off the Tennessee Titans’ practice squad. He spent his first three NFL seasons with the Packers.
