Packers OLB Rashan Gary will practice Wednesday after ‘precautionary’ exit on Tuesday

The Green Bay Packers avoided what originally looked like a concerning injury situation with a star player during Tuesday’s joint practice with the New Orleans Saints.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur said  outside linebacker Rashan Gary will practice Wednesday after exiting Tuesday’s practice due to a minor injury.

“Yeah, he’ll be out there today,” LaFleur said Wednesday. “Nothing serious. Just precautionary.”

Gary left the field and briefly met with the training staff inside the Don Huston Center late in the practice on Tuesday. He later returned to the sideline but wasn’t on the field for the two-minute 11-on-11 period.

LaFleur didn’t provide any specifics on the nature of the injury.

Keeping Gary healthy for the rest of training camp is of utmost importance for the Packers. He’s a difference-making player that general manager Brian Gutekunst mentioned he’d love to “bubble wrap” until the start of the regular season. The Packers can’t be elite without Gary, who led the team in sacks, pressures and quarterback hits last season.

Tuesday was a disruptive practice for the Packers defense, especially at the line of scrimmage and in terms of rushing the quarterback. Expect the starting defense to create more havoc with No. 52 back on the field on Wednesday.
