Packers OLB Preston Smith exits game in Chicago with oblique injury

The Green Bay Packers could be without starting edge rusher Preston Smith for the rest of Sunday’s showdown with the Chicago Bears.

Coming out of halftime, the Packers said Smith is questionable to return with an oblique injury.

Jonathan Garvin, who had a sack in the first half, replaced Smith opposite Rashan Gary at outside linebacker to start the second half.

The Packers are already without All-Pro edge rusher Za’Darius Smith, who is on injured reserve and recovering from back surgery. Backup outside linebacker Chauncey Rivers is also on injured reserve after suffering a season-ending knee injury.

Preston Smith has been one of Green Bay’s best defensive players through the first five weeks of 2021.

LaDarius Hamilton could get more playing time as the top backup behind Gary and Garvin to end Sunday.

The Packers also ruled out Josh Myers for the rest of the game. He left during the first series after injuring his knee.
