Packers, not Patriots, claim TE Michael Roberts on waivers

The Green Bay Packers have claimed tight end Michael Roberts on waivers. The Detroit Lions waived him after a trade fell through between the team and the New England Patriots. The trade conditions weren’t met during the transaction, and the Lions decided to waive him when he reverted back to their roster. That’s how Green Bay, not New England, landed Roberts.

That leaves the Patriots with tight ends Matt LaCosse, Stephen Anderson, Ryan Izzo, Andrew Beck and Ben Watson, who will serve a four-game suspension for violating the league’s policy on performance enhancing drugs.
