Packers LT David Bakhtiari misses practice Thursday, CB Jaire Alexander added to injury report

Two potentially notable injury situations for the Green Bay Packers emerged from Thursday’s practice.

Not only did left tackle David Bakhtiari miss the padded practice with a back injury, but cornerback Jaire Alexander was added to the injury report with a knee injury. Alexander was listed as limited.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur did not provide any additional details on Bakhtiari’s injury when asked Thursday. The Packers’ All-Pro left tackle was limited on Wednesday and could be in danger of missing Sunday’s home opener against the Minnesota Vikings.

Alexander must have suffered some kind of injury during Wednesday’s practice. It’s unclear if his new injury will jeopardize his ability to play Sunday against the Vikings.

Linebacker Oren Burks (pec) and receiver Darrius Shepherd (hamstring) both missed another practice. They were both out in Week 1 and will likely miss a second straight game Sunday.

Veterans Bryan Bulaga and Tramon Williams practiced in full Thursday after resting during Wednesday’s practice.

There’s no clear backup plan behind Bakhtiari at left tackle. Left guard Lane Taylor and right guard Billy Turner both have experience at tackle and could give the Packers a chance to field their best five offensive linemen if Bakhtiari can’t play. Alex Light, who was inactive in Week 1, is listed as the primary backup. He played the majority of the snaps at left tackle during the preseason.
