Packers hosting Alabama State OT Tytus Howard on pre-draft visit

The Green Bay Packers are hosting Alabama State offensive tackle Tytus Howard on a pre-draft visit Friday.

Howard (6-5, 322) started 23 games at right tackle and 11 games at left tackle during his four seasons at Alabama State.

He impressed at the Senior Bowl in Mobile and again at the NFL Scouting Combine, where he ran the 40-yard dash in 5.05 seconds, put up 21 reps on the bench press, hit 29.5″ in the vertical and 103″ in the broad jump and finished 8.34 seconds in the three-cone drill.

A former high school quarterback, Howard unexpectedly tested well below average in agility drills but showed good speed and explosion at his size.

Lance Zierlein of NFL.com described Howard as an “ascending tackle prospect” with “rare quickness and fluidity” and starter’s level traits.

Howard opened eyes with a dominant performance against Auburn during the 2018 season.

In March, the Packers had a representative in attendance at Alabama State’s pro day, where Howard worked out in front of scouts.

Many consider Howard to be a top-75 player in the draft class.
