Packers hosted pre-draft visit with Princeton’s John Lovett

The Green Bay Packers hosted a pre-draft visit with Princeton do-it-all offensive weapon John Lovett, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Lovett (6-2, 234) was the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year in both 2016 and 2018. He threw 31 touchdown passes and five interceptions and rushed for 42 touchdowns over three seasons and 26 games. He also caught 51 passes and two touchdowns and is first in school history in touchdowns produced (75).

Lovett needed shoulder surgery in 2017 and missed the entire season.

Although unlikely to play quarterback in the NFL, his versatility as a runner and receiver could provide value to an offense as an H-back, tight end or fullback at the next level.

From Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst: “Lovett is a terrific athlete but was a marginal quarterback at the small-school level. He has the size and ability to transition to the tight end position and is worth a spot on a practice squad this fall.”

Not surprisingly, Lovett said former Packers quarterback Taysom Hill is the most underrated player in the NFL in an interview with Draft Diamonds. The two have been compared during the pre-draft process.

“Having a player on your team that can play multiple positions with success is extremely valuable,” Lovett said.
