Packers hold pre-draft visit with Maryland OLB Jesse Aniebonam

The Green Bay Packers hosted Maryland edge rusher Jesse Aniebonam on a pre-draft visit this past week, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

Aniebonam, who suffered a season-ending injury after a breakout year in 2016, tallied five tackles for losses and two sacks over 11 games in 2018. He also blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown.

The Packers are likely interested in finding out if Aniebonam (6-3, 260) can find his pre-injury form. As a junior, Aniebonam looked like one of the Big Ten’s breakout pass-rushing stars, tallying 14 tackles for losses, nine sacks, 30 pressures and a forced fumble over 13 games.

In fact,

In 2017, Aniebonum suffered a broken ankle in Maryland’s season opener against Texas and missed the rest of the season. Without Aniebonum, the Terrapins finished last in the Big Ten in sacks.

At Maryland’s pro day last month, Aniebonum ran the 40-yard dash in 4.64 seconds and did 21 reps on the bench press.

Last week, Aniebonam participated in the Baltimore Ravens’ local pro day. Wilson reports Aniebonam has several more visits lined up this month.
