Packers GM in attendance at Michigan pro day

A day after introducing four new free-agent additions, Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst was in Michigan getting a first-hand look at a handful of prospects capable of providing additional help to his roster.

Gutekunst was in Ann Arbor for Michigan’s official pro day Friday, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

The Wolverines have several top NFL draft prospects, including defensive lineman Rashan Gary, linebacker Devin Bush, edge rusher Chase Winovich, cornerback David Long, running back Karan Higdon and tight end Zach Gentry.

Gary, Bush, Winovich and Long were among the biggest winners at the NFL Scouting Combine, posting top athletic scores at their respective positions.

The Packers could be especially interested in watching and meeting with Gary and Bush, two certified first-round talents, and Winovich, a legitimate top-50 prospect who fits a need on the edge. Gary and Bush could be in play at No. 12 or 30, while Winovich is a potential option at No. 44.

Long is a little undersized, but he’s an elite athlete who fits the Packers’ profile at cornerback.

Michigan went 10-3 last season but finished with back-to-back losses to Ohio State and Florida.

The last Wolverine drafted by the Packers was linebacker Jake Ryan in 2015.
