Packers give TE Marcedes Lewis $500,000 signing bonus

The Green Bay Packers gave veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis a one-year deal that includes a $500,000 signing bonus and $2.1 million overall, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

The deal also included $31,250 roster bonuses for every game he’s active next season, good for $500,000 total if he’s active for all 16 games.

The veteran minimum salary for a player with 10 or more years of experience is $1,030,000 in 2019.

Lewis, who turns 35 in May, caught only three passes for Mike McCarthy’s offense last season. An accomplished blocker, Lewis may have a much bigger role in Matt LaFleur’s offense in 2019.

If the Packers decided to part ways after training camp, Lewis will count $500,000 in dead cap in 2019. His signing bonus is the only guaranteed money in the deal.
