Packers get S Adrian Amos with 4-year, $37 million deal

The deal for new Green Bay Packers safety Adrian Amos is worth $37 million over four years, with $14 million paid out in the first year and $21 million in the first two years, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The contract averages $9.25 million per year, slotting Amos in at No. 9 among all NFL safeties – although that ranking will almost certainly change once Earl Thomas signs and the contract numbers are known for Lamarcus Joyner.

The safety market has been hot the first two days, with Landon Collins and Tyrann Mathieu both signing market-shifting deals. In comparison, Amos’ deal looks more than reasonable.

Amos started all 16 games for the Bears last season, tallying 73 tackles, two interceptions and nine pass breakups for Chicago’s top-ranked defense. A fifth-round pick from Penn State in 2015, Amos has started 50 games over the last four seasons. He’s still only 25.
