Packers exercise fifth-year option on DL Kenny Clark

Kenny Clark will be under contract with the Green Bay Packers for at least the next two seasons.

According to Field Yates of ESPN, the Packers exercised Clark’s fifth-year contract option, ensuring he’ll be in Green Bay through the 2020 season.

Clark, a first-round pick in 2016, has emerged as one of the NFL’s best young disruptive forces along the defensive line. Over the last two seasons. he’s registered 10.5 sacks, 14 tackles for losses and 17 quarterback hits.

Clark is under contract at a cap hit of $2.98 million in 2019. He would have been a free agent following the 2019 season without the option, which is included in the contracts of all first-round picks since 2011.

Clark will become only the second first-round pick to have his fifth-year option picked up by the Packers. Safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is the other (2017).
