Packers escape Week 1 victory with no new notable injuries

The Green Bay Packers are beginning preparations for the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2 without any notable or significant injuries coming out of the team’s Week 1 win over the Chicago Bears.

Only two players weren’t practicing Wednesday, and both – linebacker Oren Burks (pec) and receiver Darrius Shepherd (hamstring) – were injured prior to Week 1. Cornerback Ka’dar Hollman (neck) continues to be protected with a red jersey at practice. All three missed the Packers’ season-opening victory.

Despite a tough, physical game in Chicago, the Packers escaped Soldier Field without losing a player to a new injury.

Left tackle David Bakhtiari (back) and cornerback Kevin King (chest/hamstring) were both limited at Wednesday’s practice, but both participated. Veterans Bryan Bulaga and Tramon Williams both received a veteran’s rest day. The Packers listed seven players on the injury report that were full participants at practice.

Meanwhile, the Vikings were without cornerback Mackenzie Alexander (elbow) and guard Pat Elflein (knee) during Wednesday’s practice.

The Packers and Vikings will release a full injury report with designations on Friday. The two teams square off at noon at Lambeau Field on Sunday. The winner will be the leader in the NFC North after two weeks.
